Insights gained from this little artistic journey of mine ~

It’s been around 18 months since I decided to say no to painting your beautiful pets (these are making a comeback in 2024 so stay tuned!) and have a serious crack at painting textured seascapes. To all my friends who are embarking on their artistic journey, here are some things I would love to pass on to you;

~ Don't splurge on expensive paints or canvases

~ Embrace 'happy accidents' in your art

~ There's no right or wrong way to paint

~ Experiment with different styles (and borrow someone else’s) until you find your own. If it’s someone else’s style - it’s not yours

~ Your fingers are the best tools

~ Practice watercolours or colours on scrap paper before committing (dried paint looks different to wet paint, too)

~ Don't be afraid to paint over mistakes

~ Art can be just for you, there is no need to show anyone if you aren’t comfortable

~ Alternatively, share your work if you want to (my inbox is always open if you would like to share it with me! I would love the see it!!)

~ Keep practising and making marks!

The most valuable lessons have come my way by embracing imperfection in my art, allowing for experimentation and welcoming ALL the happy accidents.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions at all! Imagine a world where everyone could experience the joy of creating art…
