My First Solo Exhibition ~ cool, calm, collected at Palette, Fremantle
My first solo exhibition took place in a picturesque location, with tall pine trees and a refreshing ocean breeze. The warm summer evening added to the idyllic atmosphere, and the soft sunset light created a beautiful setting. To top it off, everyone enjoyed the edible work of art (a platter at Palette) while sipping on the cocktail of the month (a gradient of blue of course to match the blues in my art). Adding to the already unforgettable experience.
Pinch me! How did I get here? I have somehow just released a collection of 21 new seascape paintings inspired by the beautiful West Aussie coastline. Among them, 4 paintings are easily my largest, sized at 1 x 1.2 meters. I wanted to offer a range of sizes and prices to cater to different preferences and budgets. And as one collector pointed out - each painting is unique, which aligns with my intention. I don't want to pidgeon-hole limit myself to one specific scene.
I dedicated a solid five months to painting to prepare for the show. It was a bit of a struggle with my two kids and taking care of the house, but I prioritised painting over housework. The house is a mess. I am a mess but I wouldn't change a thing.
I want to express my gratitude to Jade and the other co-owners at Palette Fremantle for providing this exhibition space. Their support and commitment to local artists, including myself, is truly unmatched. I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity for my first solo exhibition, and I am forever thankful.
On the opening night, six pieces were sold, and I'm not sure about the current count (I asked Jade to keep it a secret from me). So, hurry if you have your eyes on any of them!
