Hey there! I’m Chanelle Chambers

If you had asked 7-year-old me what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer would have been an artist (or a veterinarian - cliche I know haha). Despite my passion for drawing and using it as a a form of escapism from trauma, pursuing art as a career seemed unrealistic after high school (and also, I wasn’t very good!). So I  chose the next best thing - graphic design. 

Although it was pointed out that I was a terrible Illustrator and shouldn't be in Illustration class, stubborn me wouldn’t have it so I set out to prove the teacher wrong and the rest is history. I began illustrating dogs, but during the process of capturing an almost life-size portrait of a family dog that took over 80 hours (I love you Bryan, but you nearly broke me (below)) I realised I needed to relax a bit on the intricate details! While attending an art fair, I sought advice from another artist on transitioning from illustrating dogs to painting what truly inspired me. Her (thank you Jacqui Armstrong!) response was so simple yet so moving: "Just do it" (that Nike subliminal messaging really got me feeling motivated ✔️😄).

My slow-paced life is just a facade for the creative chaos within! I find myself awake in the wee hours of the night, sketching out new ideas. Painting has become more than just a hobby; it is a source of calmness and self-expression, allowing me to create art that resonates with my innermost needs, as well as the aesthetic preferences of those seeking a cheerful and calming home.

Growing up in a family with some fairly creative individuals, I have always held a deep appreciation for creativity. Witnessing the so-called ‘uncreative’ ones express their creativity has reinforced my belief that everyone possesses an inner artist waiting to be unleashed. Art has given me a voice and purpose, and I am dedicated to helping others find their creative outlet as well.
